robots = love
- I'm having trouble deciphering my own idea notes. I wrote down "embarrassed Rodney, amused John" and right next to that I've scribbled, "eww babies." I'm sure this had a meaning at some point, but I've totally forgotten what it is. *facepalm*

- So [info]summertea knows that I often entertain the idea of robot!ryan. And yesterday I told myself a bedtime story. cut for those not in the bandom )

WHAT.
The problem with painting is that I inevitably become distracted and wash out my brush in my tea. And then I drink it. It ALWAYS happens. *facepalm*

have a cookie?
I was gonna work on Chansons today, but I seem to have misplaced my story notes. So until I find them, here are some old doodles that I scribbled in the margins of my notebooks:

SGA, astronauts, robots, and a little bit of American Idol and Panic at the Disco )

- I'm sad that the Olympics are already over. I don't know if it's embarrassing or not, but guys, I cry a lot watching the Games. And not just for my country. (though I totally wept when Korea won the Baseball gold medal. BASEBALL!) I cried when Matt Mitcham climbed out of the pool after his perfect final dive, and when Nastia Liukin got teary eyed on the gold medal podium, and every time a marathon runner enters the stadium on the way to the finish line (can you imagine? running along the tunnel hearing the slap of your sneakers echoing off the walls, and then sunlight and people. screaming. for you). I LOVE the look on the athlete's faces after they execute the perfect shot/landing/dive/etc. and you can totally see that moment where they think that all the pain and discipline and training were worth it. In that one moment. Guys, I totally love the Olympics. London 2012 is gonna be so awesome.

- I've heard the sad sad news about SGA. RL has kept me busy, and I haven't even seen season 5 yet. And wow, this sucks so hard. My love for SGA is mostly about the fandom, but it saddens me that we won't have more new material to squee over and manipulate to our own fannish ways. *hugs flist* I love you guys.

- I have a brief period of rest before I get busy again. Anyone want a postcard? Just send your address and a doodle prompt to my email (tardis80 [at] gmail.com). Just a few notes:
  • I will try to prioritize people who have never received a postcard from me yet.
  • I have to deliver these to the post office in person, so don't prompt me anything R-rated
  • I work VERY SLOWLY. You might get your postcard next year. But! you WILL get a postcard.
  • fandoms I work with: SGA, HP, Temeraire, bandom (patd, mcr, fob), Jeeves and Wooster...

ETA: Oh! and when you send you e-mail, tell me who you are on LJ :) Then I could make it more personalized or something.

And now to work on the next part of Chansons...

- I'm watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony live! It was awesome! I confess, my favorite part of the Olympics is the gymnastics. Go gymnasts! I hope the games inspire lots of people to write athlete!fic. John the gymnast and Rodney the swimmer(or archer or discus thrower)! Ronon is a wrestler and Teyla is a fencer! Panic at the Disco as a quadruple sculls team! Wild shenanigans in the Olympic Village! \o/

Korea will pwn the world in archery. Just so you know.

- Yesterday I had a long and complicated dream. It was a bildungsroman type of story featuring Ryan Ross and Brendon Urie falling in love with each other at an all boys boarding school (with uniforms!). And I viewed it from the 3rd person POV of some teacher-type person (maybe Brian Schechter?) who had frequent flashbacks to his own schoolboy romance with Gerard Way. OMG, MY BRAIN = AWESOME, Y/Y? Sadly, I can't remember all the details of the dream, but there was uncertainty and angst and rough fumbling in abandoned corridors and snuggling in the corners of dusty libraries. ♥ I think it had a happy ending.

-I'm sort of scared to check my flist, guys. The last time I spent this much time away from it, it went to skip=480. SCARY. So um sorry if you have done/written/drawn something insanely awesome and I haven't been joining the squee.

-I am missing SGA so HARD, but have kept myself from downloading and watching the new eps until a certain deadline has passed. Rodney McKay, don't be sad. I still love you the mostest. That said, you know what would be a really great crossover? SGA/The In-laws! Rodney is a cranky, paranoid podiatrist astrophysicist. His daughter, [insert name here], is getting married to Torrin, who is strangely tight-lipped about his father (who he says is a dishwasher salesman but in reality is a really hot CIA/government agent!). John crashes the engagement party! He and Rodney squabble and have mad spy hijinks (where in a CRUCIAL scene, Rodney shares a hot tub with a weapons dealer, while wearing a red thong. John approves). They catch the bad guys and fall in love! The end.

-The margins of my notebook are filled with little cranky Rodney faces. and robots. Someday I will scan and post. Just not today. *is tired*

-Hi new friends! if I have recently friended you that is probably because you are awesome in bandom, and I want to be your groupie.
bandom rambles...omg ryan ross...fics i would totally read )

AND LIGHTNING STRIKES!

  • Jul. 22nd, 2008 at 10:40 PM
cook + baby = <3
-Funny story guys, there was a massive storm a few days ago. My neighborhood was struck by lightning, and the electric surge burnt out my LAN card. I was on the computer at the time. It was freaky. But the repair man came and fixed it up pronto b/c Korea has awesome internet service and we know that without the intarwebs the world will end.

-So that is the reason that I am only now discovering that [info]astolat wrote a seriously amazing and LONG DC/DA story: Time of Your Life. It makes me weep, people, it is so good. It features among many other awesome things: David Cook singing Nine Inch Nails (you KNOW which song), David Archuleta having a sexual epiphany, barbecues, puppies, houses in Beverly Hills and hot chocolate kisses. And Disney World. I know, so many awesome things in one story. :)

-[info]summertea has totally won. I have embraced the bandom. OMG PETE WENTZ HOW ARE SO CRAZY AND AWESOME. My impressions after having read a few stories and not knowing much about the bands (and I'm just putting this down b/c I don't yet know the difference between canon and fanon and I want to come back and laugh about it later):
  • Spencer has hips and a bitchface. He is supposedly threatening. Except not.
  • Brendon is a spaz. And sort of magical like kittens and rainbows. And a musical genius.
  • Ryan is Angsty with a capital A. He's like an angsty poet or something. And he's really smart?
  • Jon is My Fandom Boyfriend. Seriously, he's like super nice and awesome and I'd totally marry his fictional character.
  • Pete Wentz is CRAZY. I have this image of him as Batman. Except without rubber and angst. No seriously, he's some kind of musical superhero. I'm sure of this.

Erm. SGA, I haven't forgotten you. DON'T WORRY RODNEY MCKAY, YOU'RE STILL MY FAVORITE. NO ONE ELSE CAN SAVE THE UNIVERSE AND DELIVER BABIES AND BE WOOBIE LIKE YOU.♥

Wow, sorry guys. I'm sorta really tired. heh.

I think I mentioned before how much I love dancing vids.

This one takes the cake: Where the hell is Matt? I highly recommend that you click the "view in high quality" button.

The next time I see someone dancing on the street, I think I'll join them :)

Caught dancing

  • Jul. 10th, 2008 at 4:23 PM
robots = love
my goodness, two posts in one day. I was just getting around to reading some things I'd bookmarked and this was too good not to link:

The Joy of Looking by Stephen King. It's a short article that talks about why we create things (stories, movies, music), and the brief moment of pure joy those things give us (regardless of whether they are "good" or "bad"), that can make us start dancing in the middle of Best Buy. All I can say is, WORD. This is how fandom makes me feel guys: happy.

BTW, I think this is the clip he mentions in the article.

Just so you know, I am a HUGE FAN of spontaneous dancing. There's just so much exuberance in the act, you know? So here are some more of my favorite "caught dancing" moments:

-A cop is caught dancing to Michael Jackson in a liquor store.

-BEAR DANCING. Okay, probably just scratching his back. But looks like dancing!

-Guy caught dancing to Numa Numa. My favorite part is that he keeps on dancing even after he gets caught.

-Air Force Academy shenanigans. You've probably seen this one before, but it's my all time favorite. It makes me want John Sheppard to plant a candid camera in Rodney's room so he can catch him flailing around to the Scissor Sisters (which he SO DOES) :D

Um. I totally give you permission to shun or defriend me or something after you read this post. Because in my brief absence from SGA-land, I've sort of fallen into American Idol fandom. OMG. Kill me now.

Tardis a year ago: omg American Idol is so tasteless and fake and lame. Ugh, pop. Yuck. Gimme REAL music.

Tardis today: Dude, American Idol (while admittedly very kitschy and shameless and exploitative on some levels) is a totally legit way to find hidden musical talent! OMG SQUEE♥

erm, listen to me defend myself? )

Yay for MASH!

make it work

Behold... My Future
  I will marry Jared Padalecki.
After a wild honeymoon, We will settle down in Vancouver in our fabulous Apartment.
We will have 13 kid(s) together.
Our family will zoom around in a lime green Bentley.
I will spend my days as a Illustrator, and live happily ever after.

whats your future

Thirteen kids seems a bit much. But I'm sure we'll make one big happy family :D

In other news:
-It's not actualy monsoon season yet. The storms have been caused by Strange Weather. Oh environment, I'm so sorry for using Aqua Net back in the 80s.
-A terrible thing happened. My glasses BROKE. Damn. At least it's not the Apocalypse.

-I saw 27 Dresses a few weeks ago and I really liked it. First off, Katherine Heigl is hot like a hot hot thing, and James Marsden is so cute! I was glad to see him in a movie where he actually gets the girl. I didn't even have to try to cross it over with anything so I could enjoy it better. (I confess, I tend to crossover EVERYTHING with one of my fandoms. It's a disease.)

For example, you know what would be awesome? SPN/O.C.C crossover fic. See? John and Dean Winchester make custom bikes on reality TV! Sam sometimes comes to visit and bitches at them, and sometimes helps! John and Sam are always fighting on screen! Dean and Bobby roll their eyes as they do all the work and make sure that motorbikes are made! America eats it up! I don't always watch O.C.C; too much testosterone. But I would totally watch it if it showed Dean Winchester, covered in grease, crooning to his new baby, and maybe getting a little misty-eyed when she leaves to go to her new home. Power. Tools. And that's all I have to say about that.

-I kind of want to do a DVD commentary thing on the SGA/circus AU I did for [info]paintedspires, where I would talk about my inspirations and thoughts on the piece, and perhaps post my rough drafts so you could see the evolution of it. I'm always interested in artists' thoughts and motivations, the process they went through to get their final product...but I'm not sure if anyone else is.

And some RL stuff:
-John, my sunflower, is budding! He's only about five inches tall, so he'll be a really short sunflower. Too bad there aren't such things as blue tulips. Wait, are there?

-It's officially monsoon season, so it's been raining and thundering a lot. Guys, I REALLY LOVE thunderstorms. I love the flashes of lightning and the rumbling of the thunder. And I love the sound of raindrops on the roof and against the windows. When I was a kid I was scared of storms, and when I grew up I was annoyed (b/c of the damp), but that changed after I graduated high school. I went on a trip to China. One night in Beijing, I was in my hotel room, which overlooked most of the city (there weren't any akyscrapers in that area) and there was the most awesome display of lightning. I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. And after that, I loved storms. (At least the ones that don't lead to massive property damage and loss of life.)
